SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT: KATIE GREEN
One of the most exciting new voices to hit the UK comedy scene, Katie Green was born and raised near San Francisco, in a British and Salvadoran household. She was first introduced to stand-up when she was taking an acting class and a classmate told her, “You aren’t that good at acting, but you should try stand-up.” Little did she know this backhanded compliment would start her comedy career. She moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA and pursue comedy. After getting a Master’s Degree in Latin American Studies, she decided to move to the city where her degree would be most useful; London.
Prior to moving to the UK, Katie has been featured in HBO’s Women in Comedy Festival, LaughFest, the Funny Women Fest, the San Diego Comedy Festival, and Limestone Comedy Festival. Katie was a Funny Women Finalist in 2020, and in 2022 beat 100’s of applicants to secure a place in one of Edinburgh Festival’s most prestigious new-comic showcases, ‘The Pleasance Comedy Reserve.’

SPECIAL SHOWS THIS WEEK
🎥 If you know Kyla Cobbler, you know that she is one of the most talented comedians to come out of our scene, and she’s had an insanely meteoric rise over the past years. Her debut hour, Gone Rogue, has sold out venues across Europe and the UK, including the Cork Opera House, and now it’s time to record it! Do you want to be part of the audience? Then come to the live special taping this week and your laughter will be in Kyla’s debut special FOREVER! Not only that, but you’ll be supporting one of our beloved local stars!!
😇 Before heading off to the Edinburgh Fringe, Mariah Girouard is polishing up her debut hour, Good Girl. Mariah fuses standup, storytelling, and spoken word about cannibalism and poo to take you on the journey to bettering herself…without being the good girl society expects of her. As one of our resident hosts and local favorites, we hope you’ll give her some love and check out her hour!
🆚 We’re bringing back Versus comedy, the show where we pit 2 teams of comedians against each other and have the audience decide who is funnier. This week, we’re doing TALL vs. SHORT! Who do you think is funnier? Human skyscrapers who are always helping you get stuff down from the top shelf? Or our fun-sized team, who have never truly enjoyed a concert with full view? Representing team tall: Ben Pabla, Fil Varney, and Emma Dalenberg. And team short: Mila Kopaeva, Alba Phillips, and Harris Fellman. Host: Jordan Thomas Gray.
🎤 The eagerly anticipated and unashamedly feel-good show from Latina rising star Katie Green. ¡Ay Mija! is a story about identity, family, coming of age, terrible dating choices and throwing the best damn party ever. She finds the funny in the differences between her Salvadoran roots and her British present, by way of a childhood growing up in California. We’re so pumped to have Katie here doing all the spots, so come check out this preview of her upcoming Edinburgh Fringe hour!
🙅 Gong Wild is back this weekend! This is the only show where we encourage the audience to tell us when they don’t like a comedian, so we can guarantee it’ll be a great show. Brave comedians will attempt to win over the audience, before select members can vote them off the stage. Losers will be gonged off the stage, while winners will get a crisp 10 euro bill and a sense of glory!
🤘 Join Nicolette Sweeney and her rockstar cast of improvisers for an hour of silliness! In addition to Nicolette, you’ll see Vem, Kyla Cobbler, Luke Messina, Michael Parry, and Chadbert Bunchweth.
🔪 And there’s a final Edinburgh Fringe preview this week from London-based Canadian comedian Erika Ehler. Erika navigates the disturbing reality of what it’s like to be young, hot and yet so alone; platonic relationships and the bittersweet transition of hangouts becoming reunions. As seen on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, Comedians Giving Lectures and Comedy Central Live. She’s written for tons of shows and has performed all over the world, so don’t miss the chance to see her latest hour this weekend!
🍮 Come to our alt comedy open mic, where our lovable weirdos are working on new characters, sketches, songs, and more! This isn’t your typical comedy show, it’s nonsense!!
