This Week at The Comedy Clubhouse: October 14-20

Hey, hey, hey! Another week, another WhatsApp message notification! Read on for a discount code!

Weā€™ll be keeping up the ā€œ& Friendsā€ shows on Wednesdays at 7:30, even though Kyla Cobbler will be out of town for a while. But thatā€™s ok, we have so many great local comedians who also have funny friends! So weā€™ll be rotating hosts for a while, and might even have some visiting acts put together a lineup. For this week, we have ā€œJohn Allis & Friendsā€ with everyoneā€™s favorite Kiwi! John has opened for Tom Segura, released a childrenā€™s book, and holds the title of Unicycle Jousting Champion in New Zealand. Heā€™s hand-selecting a killer lineup AND weā€™re giving you all a code to get 2×1 tickets. Use ā€œKICKASSKIWIā€ on our website and bring a friend along!

This week weā€™ll also have the quarter finals of this yearā€™s Roast Battle tournament to see who will make it to the semi-final/final round at the Comedy Purge on November 1, and get a chance to win the iconic Roast Battle belt. The quarter-final battles are as follows: Irene Meneguzzi vs. Stuart Kennedy, Jordan Thomas Gray vs. Oli Bussell, Darren Cullen vs. Hector Ayala, and Mila Kopaeva vs. Ben Pabla. Who do you think will win it all?

Hector currently hosts Basemint Comedy – one of Barcelona’s most renowned stand up comedy shows – and formerly co-produced Uranus Comedy with Andy Casper, a comedy showcase with the best comedians of the local scene and abroad which have featured Michelle Wolf, Ngaio Bealum, and Preacher Lawson. Some of his most impactful features include performing in several showcases around diverse cities such as Edinburgh (EdFringe 2022), Amsterdam, Berlin, Basel, and Luxembourg, opening in Barcelona for Michelle Wolf, La Cotorrisa (Mexico) and Hablando Huevadas (Peru); as well as appearing as a finalist in National Romanian Television (iUmor 2023, Stand-Up Revolution 2022).

Special Shows This Week

šŸŽ¤ Check out the One Minute Mic where literally anyone, from experienced acts to audience members, gets the chance to perform 1 minute of stand up, then get some feedback from our panel of comedians led by Jordan Thomas Gray. Performers can win free drinks and other prizes, so come and take a chance!

šŸ‘Æā€ā™‚ļø Even though Kyla is away, our Wednesday ā€œ& Friendsā€ series continues! This week, itā€™s John Allis & Friends with killer comedians doing their best material, hosted by our favorite Kiwi, John Allis. Use the code KICKASSKIWI on our website to get 2×1 tickets.

šŸ”„ The Roast Battle tournament continues this week with the quarter final battles. Who will make it to the Comedy Purge at the end of the month? Weā€™ll have battles from Irene Meneguzzi vs. Stuart Kennedy, Jordan Thomas Gray vs. Oli Bussell, Darren Cullen vs. Hector Ayala, and Mila Kopaeva vs. Ben Pabla.

šŸ† Bang? Marry? Kill? Is back again with another edition of interactive comedy fun! Comedians will do their best sex and relationship material, then try to play matchmaker with the audience. Youā€™ll also get to vote on if youā€™d rather bang, marry, or kill the comedian. Hosted by Belinda Filippelli with sets from Fil Varney, Hannah Becker, Andy Casper, Natalie Lyn, Aurelio Lova, and Veronica Peralta.

šŸ¤°ā€My Fabulous Fupa Chalupaā€ is Julie Belliveauā€™s first solo show bringing together over 7 years of international stand-up experience. Itā€™s a high-energy and uplifting ride filled with tales of early motherhood, IVF, turning 40, growing up Catholic, side-splitting health (sometimes mental) problems, moving to Spain and above all else, a hilarious celebration of lifeā€™s ups and downs.

šŸ„ƒ Drink Drank Drunk is back back back! Watch as comedians debate absurd topics after taking an unhealthy amount of shots. Itā€™s like debate club gone wild. This weekendā€™s debaters are RAM, James Regal, Belinda Filippelli, and Alba Phillips, with Hannah Becker and Chris Groves judging, and the host with the most, Luke Messina.

šŸŖ†And for our Russian-speaking friends, thereā€™s a Sunday Bread show this weekend where you can see up-and-coming local talent, as well as visiting comedians, working on material in Russian.
