Alright fuckers, it’s almost August and I know you’re all planning your holidays out of town but WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Things might get a little wacky, though, because some of our regular hosts and show runners are away this month. So expect to see guest hosts covering shows, new formats we’re testing, acts trying out solo and split hours, and plenty of jokes about how hot it is.
Some things never change, like how fun Gong Wild is! If you’ve never been, it’s a stand up comedy show where the audience has the power to vote a comedian off stage in the middle of their set. That means that the acts will be trying their hardest to make you laugh, AND anyone who doesn’t will be gonged off the stage. So it’s guaranteed to be an amazing show! Saturday Spotlight: Hector Ayala
Héctor Ayala is an established stand-up comedian in the Barcelona English speaking scene. Originally from Mexico, and starting in Barcelona’s comedy circuit in 2018, Hector quickly grew to become one of the local favorites with his warm and loveable persona and highly energetic story telling. Hector currently hosts Basemint Comedy – one of Barcelona’s most renowned stand up comedy shows – and formerly co-produced Uranus Comedy with Andy Casper, a comedy showcase with the best comedians of the local scene and abroad which have featured Michelle Wolf, Ngaio Bealum, and Preacher Lawson. Some of his most impactful features include performing in several showcases around diverse cities such as Edinburgh (EdFringe 2022), Amsterdam, Berlin, Basel, and Luxembourg, opening in Barcelona for Michelle Wolf, La Cotorrisa (Mexico) and Hablando Huevadas (Peru); as well as appearing as a finalist in National Romanian Television (iUmor 2023, Stand-Up Revolution 2022).

🎤 Jordan Thomas Gray is pretty famous…in Poland! In 2020, Jordan moved from New York to Warsaw to start a new life. He quickly became the most prominent English-speaking comedian in Poland through his powerful and raw ability to speak English. He recently moved from Poland to Barcelona so that he can perform in front of other people who can speak English, too! Sometimes accompanied by his electric guitar, Jordan galivants through songs, stories, and one-liners about his backwards North Carolina upbringing, the absurdities of expat life, and the joyful horrors of human relationships. There will be plenty of sharp and at times unhinged crowd interaction, too!
🍞 The improv duo E&E brings you an evening of multilingual improv comedy chaos. They’ll take suggestions in any language and try to do a scene, even if they don’t speak the language!
🥄 Don’t miss the final preview of Michelle Ahern: We’ve Had a Good Run before she heads to Edinburgh! This one woman show mixes stand up, storytelling, puppets, and dance breaks, which will have you laughing, and maybe even shedding a few tears. Support one of our local acts before the Fringe!

🍕 Our monthly Italian open mic is back this weekend, so come catch some stand up comedy in italiano!
🙅 Gong Wild is the only show where we encourage the audience to tell us when they don’t like one of the acts! Comedians will have a few minutes to impress you, but if they fail, they will be gonged off the stage. If they succeed, they get some cold hard cash.
