This Week at The Comedy Clubhouse: September 2-8

Hello, hello, hellooooo! It’s a new season of comedy at the Comedy Clubhouse, and that means we’re making a few changes…

We’re officially relaunching our membership program, along with making Mondays and Tuesdays our “Member Days” and we hope you guys will join us! Member Day shows will be completely free for members, AND you’ll get drink discounts those nights (€3 house pints and glasses of wine, €2 house bottles, and €2 off all mixed drinks) so you can have a super cheap and chill night out with great comedy! PLUS you get €2 off almost ANY SHOW on other nights if you buy online (or get online prices at the door). And there’s so much more, like discounts on merch when we make it, free entry to trial shows, an exclusive Clubhouse coin, and an even more exclusive message group than this where you’ll be the first to know about exciting stuff happening like last minute celeb drop ins. All of this can be yours for the incredible deal of  €5/month (+IVA)! Get more info and sign up over on our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheComedyClubhouseBcn

***Quick reminder that we’ve changed the timings for Mondays and Tuesdays, so the first shows will now be at 7:30pm!

And finally, we’re launching a new show in Spanish and/or Catalan which will be 2x per month on Sundays at 6:30pm. We’ll get a great host and they’ll invite a couple of their funniest friends to do some sets, likely doing a mix of their best material with some newer bits they’re working on. It’s free to book your seat, then pay what you want at the end (cash preferred!) To kick us off, we have Hector Ayala & Amigos!

Saturday Spotlight: Simon O’Keeffe

One of the most popular figures on the Irish comedy scene, Simon has headlined pretty much every club worth playing. Well known for his excellent hosting skills,he was the resident MC of the award winning Capital Comedy Club in the landmark Ha’Penny Bridge Inn for almost a decade, before assuming hosting duties in Chaplin’s Comedy Club. He is now host of the home of Irish Comedy in The International Comedy Club every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Videos of his crowd work have been a huge hit on social media clocking up hundreds of thousands of views.

Simon has toured all over Ireland with the likes of Joanne McNally, Neil Delamere, and PJ Gallagher including opening for them in Dublin’s prestigious Vicar Street. A festival regular, he was the first comedian to ever play the Oxegen festival and has featured at the last 7 Vodafone and Paddy Power Comedy Festivals in the Iveagh Gardens, not to mention headlining all over the UK and even Europe. A prolific writer as well, Simon wrote for the hit panel show Clear History on RTE 2 and currently has his own sitcom in development. The most in demand joke writer in the country, he regularly writes for some of Ireland’s biggest comedians.

Host: Hector Ayala

Special Shows This Week

🐉 On the first Tuesday of every month, join the fantastical adventure of a lifetime as experienced dungeon master (and hilarious comedian) Stuart Kennedy leads a group of comedians on an epic Dungeons & Dragons campaign. The only thing is that none of them actually know how to play. Expect wacky characters, out-of-pocket choices, and plenty of crowd interactions. Equally fun for D&D fans and people who have never played!

🔥 Roast Battle BCN is BACK with a new tournament to crown the next BCN Roast Champ! This week we have a qualifying round for some newer roasters (Denisitoo vs. Alice Russo, and Palla vs. Porter Grubbs) plus some exhibition matches, including our current MVP James Regal taking on The Comedy Clubhouse owner John Allis. The tournament will take place over the next 2 months (on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month) and will culminate in an epic Halloween Comedy Purge.

🎶 Come see three goons singing their hearts out at your suggestion! They’ll craft a full musical with a beginning, middle, and end (hopefully) improvised on the spot featuring Brielle Jobe and Michael Parry with Brett Taylor on the keys.

😈 If your humor is dark, dirty, edgy, and NSFW, then The Offenders is the show for you. Top comics from our local scene and beyond will be bringing their most offensive material, so don’t come if you’re easily offended!

🙅 It’s time for Gong Wild, our take on the classic gong show format. Brave comedians will perform their best material and try to stay on stage for their whole set. If the audience doesn’t like it… they can vote the comedian off stage. Losers will be gonged off stage in shame, while the winners will get a crisp €10 bill. It’s the only show where the audience decides who stays and who goes!

☕️ Our daytime talk show, Coffee Con Comedy, is back this weekend with hosts Vem & Vos! Come early for free coffee and pancakes, and stay for a show packed with interviews, stand up, games, music, and more!

🍕 For our Italian-speaking fans, Facce da mandillä is back, and so is creator/host Wendy La Fortu! See BCN-based comedians and more in this Italian-language open mic.
