Edinburgh Fringe Info Session

January 11 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
€3.00

In this session, experienced Edinburgh Fringe producers and performers Jamie Lerner, Andy Casper, and James Regal will go through the ins and outs of taking a show to the biggest arts festival in the world.

The Edinburgh Fringe comes with a specific set of challenges from finding a venue and lodging to actually getting an audience. Now that applications are open for the various sub-festivals within the Fringe, it’s time to start preparing! If you’re considering going to the Fringe, this talk is for you.

The session will include info about:

    • Finding a good performance venue
    • How to find affordable lodging
    • Aligning your Fringe goals with your Fringe experience
    • Setting up your expectations
    • Tactics to get an audience
    • How to break even or make money
    • and more!

There will also be a Q&A, as this session will be led mostly by the needs of participants. The panelists have all produced multiple shows at at least two Edinburgh Fringe Festivals with varying experiences from nearly disastrous to overwhelmingly positive.

Jamie Lerner is a local musical comedian who has been performing and participating in arts festivals since she was a student at NYU, but the Edinburgh Fringe was unlike any other beast. She first attended the Ed Fringe in 2022 and decided to co-produce her first split hour with Mariah Girouard in 2023. In 2024, she brought her debut solo, F*ck Tomorrow, which received positive reviews and attention from several producers, in addition to co-organizing a Barcelona compilation late night show without hiring any extra help.

Andy Casper brought his first show to the Fringe in 2022 with Hector Ayala and decided to return in 2023 with his solo show, Gremlin Head, and the cult comedy game show, What Would You Do If That Were You? In 2024, Andy brought Gremlin Head once again along with his new viral cult hit, Bone Man. Tuned into some of the ins and outs of the Fringe’s alternative comedy scene, Andy has a unique perspective about breaking through and making your dreams happen.

James Regal is one of Barcelona’s most successful producers, who has managed to take several concepts and grow them internationally. In 2023, he produced Lolyamorous and his split hour with Luke Messina, Fake Jews as part of the Ed Fringe. In 2024, he brought back Lolyamorous bigger and better than before. He understands the financial risks and upsides of producing a show, along with the PR perspective of building and growing a concept from the ground up.

The €3 ticket price covers costs of the space and organization fees, but if it’s truly prohibitive, please contact Jamie at [email protected].
